A deep immersion in the sound of historical instruments that are brought back to life through a recent repertoire that remains faithful to the past, ranging from Italian singer-songwriter songs to traditional Sephardic melodies, traveling from jazz to South American rhythms: this is the mission of Trio Amistad. The choice of instruments is the distinctive feature of this ensemble: three antique guitars built by luthiers who made history, Santos Hernandez, Domingo Esteso, and Jose Ramirez Primo, strung with gut and natural silk. The repertoire performed by the trio is a sort of musical biography that ranges from the composer’s past to the recent present, in a flow of spirit not yet solidified in the mold of a page of music or in a defined space and time due to the use of improvisation. The three musicians who make up Trio Amistad have a common origin: the Umberto Giordano Conservatory in Foggia. Daniele Sardone, Luigi Staffieri, and Danilo Delli Carri are further united by their deep passion for historical stringed instruments and sound research. Through the use of gut and silk strings, this research opens new horizons towards a world that borders on the sound of the human voice. The strings become vocal cords and the instrumental emission becomes speech.
