Avguste Antonov is a Bulgarian pianist based in France, internationally recognized for his versatile repertoire and his commitment to both classical and contemporary music. He studied piano in Bulgaria, France, and the United States under distinguished teachers including Alain Motard, Hervé N’Kaoua, Robert Weirich, Stanislav Ioudenitch, Jack Winerock, Tamás Ungár, and further refined his artistry through masterclasses with renowned pianists such as Gerhard Oppitz, Jean-Claude Pennetier, Grigory Sokolov, Olga Kern, Anton Nel, and Yoheved Kaplinsky. Antonov has performed extensively throughout Europe and North America, giving recitals in the United States, France, England, and Belgium, and appearing as soloist with numerous orchestras and wind ensembles. His concerto repertoire includes works by Schumann, Rachmaninoff, Liszt, Ravel, Gershwin, McDowell, and Tchaikovsky, as well as contemporary concertos by Carter Pann and Matthew Saunders. Passionate about new music, he has presented several world and U.S. premieres and collaborated closely with living composers including Carter Pann, Gregory Hutter, Michael Colgrass, Matthew Saunders, and Robert Rollin. In 2014, he released his debut album, An American Journey, dedicated to works by contemporary American composers. Alongside his performing career, Avguste Antonov is a highly respected educator, lecturer, and adjudicator. He has presented lectures for numerous music teachers’ associations across the United States and regularly serves on the juries of prestigious international competitions, including the ENKOR Piano Competition, Sound Espressivo Global Competition, World Classical Music Awards, and the World Online Music Competitions Organization. He also served on the Advisory Board of the Sound Espressivo Global Competition and was President of the World Piano Teachers Association – Piano Pedagogy in 2022. Since 2020, he has been Professor of Piano at the Conservatoire de Châteaubriant (France). He continues to perform internationally while actively supporting the next generation of musicians through teaching, masterclasses, festival faculty appointments, and international competition juries. Upcoming engagements include his recital debut in Spain and performances of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 and Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in the 2026–2027 concert seasons.
