Luciano Monaco was born in Campobasso, Italy, and began studying classical guitar at the “L. Perosi” Conservatory under the guidance of Pasqualino Garzia. He completed the Conservatory’s ten-year academic curriculum in just seven years, graduating with highest honors and distinction in the class of Alessandro Paris. He continued his studies at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano, where he earned a Master of Arts in Music Performance under Lorenzo Micheli, and further refined his artistry at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena with Oscar Ghiglia. In 2017, he completed a Graduate Diploma at the New England Conservatory in Boston, studying with Eliot Fisk and Jerome Mouffe. He subsequently earned a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) from the University of Texas at Austin in 2021, under the supervision of Adam Holzman. His artistic career is rooted in the Italian classical guitar tradition while embracing an international musical perspective through extensive academic and artistic experiences abroad. He is currently Professor of Classical Guitar at the “Umberto Giordano” Conservatory in Rodi Garganico, Italy. Based in Florence, he combines an active concert career with teaching and scholarly research, contributing to the development of the next generation of classical guitarists.
